07.19.15 “When In Doubt”

Matthew 11:1-6

  • doubt was always associated with a believer in the New Testament
  • a doubt requires two propositions (disbelief and belief)
  • even John the Baptist doubted
  • before Jesus began his earthly ministry, John was put in jail (so John couldn’t see Jesus’ miracles –> he sent his disciples to keep an eye on Jesus)
  • in his doubts, John went straight to Jesus
  • stop looking for answers
  • FIRST, seek the Lord (that is the answer)
  • if we look to miracles, we will be fooled
  • Jesus referred to an Old Testament prophecy (he gave John the Word of God)
